RGI adds a splash of colour to the stark Nullarbor |
Mainfreight contractor Billy Sims has recently purchased a three-trailer combo to run across the Nullarbor Plain on Mainfreight’s Melbourne, Adelaide to Perth and return legs. Billy will leave one trailer in Adelaide, completing the west/east trip on to Melbourne. Then reloading and returning to Adelaide to collect the remaining and now reloaded Perth bound trailer. RGI is the preferred branding supplier to Mainfreight. The white band containing the company’s logo and blended edging was applied to the blue Western Star prime mover, together with Mainfreight hand-blended curtains to the three trailers, all of which were designed, manufactured and installed by the RGI team. The 4964FXC Western Star is fitted with a 54” Stratosphere sleeper and is powered by a 550hp Caterpillar Acert engine. Lift-off and rolling ratios are provided by the ubiquitous manual shift Eaton 18-speed constant mesh transmission. The burly prime mover is rated with a 106-tonne GCM (Gross Combination Mass). Billy Sims and Mainfreight management are delighted with the visual impact that RGI applied to this transcontinental juggernaut.
